چکیده

Cylinder-to-cylinder combustion dispersion in internal engines might be caused by various factors (e.g. manufacturing variations of the injectors or nozzle coking) which can result an increase pollutant emissions. When dealing with low temperature concepts such as premixed dual-fuel, system suffer from additional source due to port fuel injection distribution. Conventional cylinder concentration estimation is based on look-up tables previously calibrated and saved ECU. The aging distribution characterization are a challenging task when relying only single UEGO sensor placed at exhaust. In-cylinder pressure sensors offer powerful solution evaluate energy released one cycle resolution. present work proposes combine information provided together conventional sensors, this case air mass flow lambda sensor, for estimating blending ratio entering each heavy-duty dual-fuel engine. A Kalman filter was designed tackle dynamics system, e.g. delay distribution, validated both diesel combustion. output then used update table order cope possible bias over time.

Real-time Nonlinear Individual Cylinder Air Fuel Ratio Observer on a Diesel Engine Test Bench

We propose an estimator of the individual cylinder air fuel ratios in a turbocharged Diesel Engine using as only sensor the single air fuel ratio sensor placed downstream the turbine. The observer consists of a nonlinear filter designed on a physics-based time-varying model for the engine dynamics. Convergence is proven, using a Lyapounov function. Performance is studied through simulations and...

Nitrous Oxide Emissions on Single Cylinder Diesel Engine Using Variable of Fuel Sulfur and Emulsion Fuel

The aim of this work is to investigate the influence of NO/SO2 on the emissions of N2O from diesel engine. A direct-injection diesel engine (model NF-19SK YANMAR) one cylinder was employed to test the emission. This engine works on fourstroke cycle and was operated at 2200 rpm by 25, 50, and 75% engine load. The experiment by three level sulfur content of fuel by adding DBDS into MDO and experi...

Ethanol Content Estimation in Flex Fuel Direct Injection Engines Using In-Cylinder Pressure Measurements

Flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs) are able to operate on a blend of ethanol and gasoline in any volumetric concentration of up to 85% ethanol (93% in Brazil). The estimation of ethanol content is crucial for optimized and robust performance in such vehicles. Even if an ethanol sensor is utilized, an estimation scheme independent of the ethanol sensor measurement retains advantages in enhancing the ...

Diss . ETH No . 19386 INDIVIDUAL CYLINDER AIR - FUEL RATIO CONTROL

The thesis presents a complete framework for the design of an individual cylinder air-fuel ratio (A/F) controller that aims to further reduce the exhaust emissions of modern automotive gasoline engines. It is well known that this type of controller relies on a correct estimation of the A/F of the individual cylinders. Otherwise, the control system can become unstable. Therefore, the conditions ...

Individual cylinder characteristic estimation for a spark injection engine

Engine control policies are mostly based on the assumption that all injectors have the same behavior independent of location and aging. In reality, injectors do vary and age. To contain variations around a nominal value, tight tolerances are imposed on the manufacturing process. Even if the manufacturing process is tightly controlled, the air-to-fuel ratio needed to satisfy emission constraints...
